In this pilot episode, I take listeners into the overlooked world of autograph hounding, where fans wait hours outside luxury hotels for a chance to meet professional athletes. What might seem like a simple hobby quickly reveals itself as something deeper, a mix of obsession, strategy and persistence. Through the voices of three hounds, Alex, Elijah and Mohammed, I explore the different motivations behind the chase, from passion and connection to financial gain. Most nights end in disappointment, shaped by cold weather, missed opportunities and intense competition. But it’s the unpredictability, the rare moment when a player stops and signs, that keeps people coming back. Set against Toronto’s sports scene, this story captures the emotional highs and lows of a pursuit defined by waiting, uncertainty and the hope that tonight might finally pay off.
