For Ryerson students it is a common occurrence to receive a notification from campus security saying that a security incident has occurred on campus. The regularity of these updates can sometimes make the notifications even seem trivial but what would you do if you randomely found yourself being assaulted on campus? Ryerson University currently offers the RAD self defence program for free to all of its students. RAD is a program focused on teaching participants how to react when they are attacked and tries to help make its participants feel as prepared as possible if they ever find themselves in an altercation. In this piece RAD representative Marco Hernandez explains how the program tries to better prepare people to defend themselves and Ryerson student Lauren Davis talks about her experience with being attacked on campus and what her first instincts were as she tried to get out of the situation.
