It is clear that Pit bull-type dogs are often perceived as “scary” breeds, but what makes them more aggressive than other dogs? Tang mentions that the people who own pit bull-type breeds and enter them into dog fights or influence aggressive behaviour are actually what created the stereotype.
Do you avoid certain breeds? You may be “breedist”- this term is used by Emma Feasby, a Veterinary Technician and dog owner, who uses it to describe when breeds are treated differently due to a stereotype or other biological misconception.
